World leaders on the rights of the youngest
In February 2025, the Vatican hosted a unique Summit on Children’s Rights. Pope Francis, along with leading political, social and religious leaders, discussed the global challenges facing the youngest. Topics included combating violence, access to education and ways to improve the lives of children in countries affected by humanitarian crises.
Sport as a tool for change – 5P Europe Foundation operates in Africa
One of the most important conclusions from the summit was the initiative of the 5P Europe Foundation, which focuses on physical activity as a key element of children’s development. The organization announced the construction of one hundred modern sports zones in Gambia, giving the youngest a chance to move, develop and live a healthy lifestyle.
The project is led by Robert Szustkowski, Ambassador of the Foundation, who emphasized that sports not only improve fitness, but can also influence children’s education and social integration. The program is being developed in cooperation with the Gambian government and has received official support from Pope Francis and world leaders. Its implementation is planned for 2025, and future stages will also include Ukraine and Palestine.
Prestigious award for Robert Szustkowski
The 5P Europe Foundation’s commitment to helping children has not gone unnoticed. Robert Szustkowski has been appointed a member of the Pontifical Committee for World Children’s Day – an organization that aims to protect the rights of the youngest.
The summit participants included prominent leaders, including Queen Rania of Jordan, former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, former US Vice President Al Gore, and representatives of key international institutions. Poland was represented by Dr. Marek Michalak, a well-known children’s rights advocate.
Appeal for immediate action
Pope Francis concluded the summit with a powerful message, highlighting the dramatic situation of children in the world – every day 14,000 children die from preventable causes. He appealed for coordinated action to provide support and protection for children. The event’s slogan – “Let us love and protect them” – has become a symbol of the international commitment to improving the fate of the youngest.
