In the face of the growing problem of disinformation and hate speech in the media, the Council of Polish Entrepreneurs, the Lewiatan Confederation, the Polish Business Council and the Polish Bank Association have issued an appeal to the Minister of Justice. These organisations demand decisive action to limit the spread of false information and protect the personal dignity of citizens. They emphasise that aggression on the Internet often translates into actual attacks on people who fall victim to hate.

Robert Szustkowski’s social initiative

Robert Szustkowski, an entrepreneur who has been repeatedly slandered by the media without justification, also draws attention to this problem. Szustkowski appeals for the extension of the EU right “to be forgotten” to the media as data controllers. In his letter to the European Commission, he emphasises the need to increase the protection of the personal rights of EU citizens against the effects of publishing false or manipulated information. The proposed legislative tools are intended to facilitate the protection of these rights without the need for lengthy court proceedings, which is particularly important in an era of rapid information flow.

Appeal to the Minister of Justice

In his appeal to the Minister of Justice, Szustkowski draws attention to the need to introduce tools that will enable citizens to more effectively manage their personal data and protect against the publication of false, manipulated and harmful content. He emphasizes that additional tools would allow people to more effectively protect their personal rights against the publication of slander or mitigate its effects, often irreversible and critically harmful, without the need for lengthy court proceedings.
