Meeting of world leaders for the youngest

In February 2025, the Vatican became the site of a key meeting of world leaders dedicated to children’s rights. The event brought together prominent figures, including Pope Francis, who emphasized the urgent need for action on behalf of the youngest.

The 5P Europe Foundation and its sports project in Africa

One of the important outcomes of the summit was the presentation of a new initiative by the 5P Europe Foundation, aimed at developing sports infrastructure for children in resource-poor countries. The foundation, supported by prominent figures, plans to create a hundred sports zones in Gambia, a country struggling with many socio-economic problems. Each of the facilities will be equipped with basic gymnastic equipment, aimed at supporting physical activity of children and youth. The project is being implemented in cooperation with local authorities and its implementation is planned for the same year. In the future, it is planned to expand activities to other regions, including Ukraine and Palestine.

International recognition for the Foundation’s activities

In addition to the infrastructure initiative, the 5P Europe Foundation has also gained recognition on the international stage – its ambassador, Robert Szustkowski, was nominated to the Pontifical Committee for World Children’s Day. This is an institution established by the Holy Father, whose main goal is to promote the rights of the youngest. Szustkowski expressed his commitment to the mission, emphasizing the importance of activities for children in difficult conditions.

Support from world leaders for new initiatives

Other world leaders also spoke at the Vatican summit, expressing support for the new projects. Participants included Queen Rania of Jordan, former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, former US Vice President Al Gore, and representatives of international institutions. Poland was represented by Dr. Marek Michalak, former Children’s Rights Ombudsman.

International appeal to protect children

During the summary of the meeting, Pope Francis appealed for the intensification of actions on behalf of children, especially those affected by conflict, violence and poverty. Dramatic statistics were highlighted – 14 thousand children die every day in the world from causes that could have been avoided. The meeting’s motto – “Let us love and protect them” – became a symbol of international mobilization in defense of the youngest.
