World leaders rise to the challenge of protecting the youngest – New hope for children

A key meeting of world leaders on children’s rights took place in the Vatican in early February 2025. The summit, chaired by Pope Francis, discussed the challenges faced by the world’s youngest – from lack of access to education to the effects of conflict and poverty. The event brought together leading figures from politics, religion and humanitarian organizations to work together to find concrete solutions for children living in difficult conditions.

Sport as a chance for a better life – a new project of the 5P Europe Foundation

One of the most important outcomes of the summit was the announcement of the 5P Europe Foundation program, which aims to improve the quality of life of children through the development of sports infrastructure. The project, supported by world leaders, involves the construction of hundreds of sports zones in Gambia – a country where access to recreation and physical activity for children is extremely limited.

Each zone will be equipped with exercise equipment to enable the youngest to develop physically, build strength and shape healthy habits. The project is being developed in cooperation with local authorities and is planned to be implemented in 2025. The foundation announces that if it is successful, the initiative will cover other countries, including Ukraine and Palestine, where children are in particular need of support.

Global recognition for the Foundation’s activities – nomination for Robert Szustkowski

The commitment of the 5P Europe Foundation has been recognized at the highest level. Its ambassador, Robert Szustkowski, has been nominated to the Pontifical Committee for World Children’s Day. This distinction underlines his commitment to helping children and the Foundation’s activities for their rights and development.

World leaders support change

During the summit, broad support for initiatives on behalf of children was expressed by Queen Rania of Jordan, former Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi, former Vice President of the USA Al Gore and President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach. Poland was represented by Dr. Marek Michalak, who has been involved in protecting the rights of the youngest for years.

Pope Francis calls for urgent action

During the closing session, Pope Francis drew attention to the difficult situation of children in the world, emphasizing that 14,000 children die every day from preventable causes. He called on the international community to take decisive action and intensify efforts to protect the youngest. The summit’s motto – “Let us love and protect them” – has become a symbol of a common commitment to building a better future for children around the world.
